The CDB Secretariat, in collaboration with PPPD, MoF and CAB is conducting a three day training program for the contractors beginning 17th June 2014 at Paro. The first two days training program is specifically for Large and Medium contractors. The first day program covers Procurement Rules and Regulations and Standard Bidding Document for Large and Medium works. This training program is expected to address the confusions arising from interpretation of rules and tendering processes. The earlier training program conducted for the procuring agencies and this training program for the contractors is expected to bring about uniformity in understanding as well as application of tendering norms. The second day program will have sessions on contractor registration system, Code of Ethics for Contractors and New Point Based System. This is the first time a session on contractors’ “Code of Ethics” has been included in the program. The code of ethics was approved in the 60th board meeting of the CDB and printed copies will be made available to the construction firms in the next financial year.
19th of June 2014 is specifically for small contractors wherein Procurement Rules and Regulations, Standard Bidding Document for small works, Code of Ethics for Contractors and New Classification System will be addressed.
This training is conducted for local contractors for the first time in the country and the program will conclude on 19th of June 2014. Such training programs will become a regular feature in a bid to bring about professionalism in the construction industry.
