How to Register as a Consultant


Registration

A consultant, who wishes to be registered with CDB, shall submit an application to the CDB Secretariat in a standard application form (Sample attached as Appendix 1) prescribed by CDB.

Processing Fee

Each application, whether it is for a new application or for a re-registration shall be submitted with the Application Form. It should, also, be accompanied by documented evidence that the amount of Nu 100.00 as Processing Fee has been paid to CDB.

Registration and Re-registration Fee

A consultant who is issued a new Certificate of Registration or whose Certificate of Registration is renewed shall pay the fee of Nu. 5000. 

Mode of Payment

All fees shall be payable by crossed cheque or banker’s cheque in accordance with the procedures specified in the Financial Manual, the Royal Government of Bhutan. Fees are non-refundable. The CDB may revise the fees as and when necessary after giving prior notice.

Certificate of Registration

The CDB Secretariat shall process the application and if it meets the requirements for registration, the Certificate of Registration will be issued which is valid for a period of two years from the date of issuance. A consultant shall apply for renewal of his Certificate of Registration within 30 days before its expiry date. The Certificate of Registration is the property of the CDB and it must be returned to the CDB Secretariat whenever the Consultant’s registration has expired or is withdrawn for any reason.

Minimum requirements shall be applied to avoid deterioration of standards of the industry. The detail of the requirements for each service is as shown below.

Privileges of Registration

A consulting firm or individual consultant registered with the CDB shall be eligible to apply for a Trade License to practice in Bhutan.  A consulting firm/individual who has both registered with the CDB as well as obtained a Trade License shall be permitted to practice in the construction industry in Bhutan subject to the limits of their technical and financial capacities, which shall be evaluated by the concerned procuring agency.
